What is ADDS?

Active Directory (AD) is a directory service that Microsoft developed for the Windows domain networks. It is included in most Windows Server operating systems as a set of processes and services.[1][2] Initially, Active Directory was only in charge of centralized domain management. Starting with Windows Server 2008, however, Active Directory became an umbrella title for a broad range of directory-based identity-related services. (Source: WikiPedia)

What is Domain Controller? 

A server running ADDS is called Domain Controller.

Follow the following steps:
 Click Add Roles and Features

Click Next


Click Next

Click Next

Select Active Directory and Domain Services
Click Add Features
Click Next
Click Next
Click Next
Click Install
Installation Wizard
Click On the FLAG top of the DashBoard
Click on the Promote this server to a domain controller

Root domain name: Netlab.lk
Set a Forest functional level 2008 and set a password and click next
Click Next
Click Next
Next
Click Install

After that Server will restart
Now Your domain is ready
Look left side there is ADDS and DNS

Now ADDS and DNS are Ready

CCNA,CCNP Practical කරන්න අපිට Layer 2 Switches, Layer 3 Switches, Routers වගේ ගොඩාක් Devices ඕනි à·€ෙනවා. දැන් බලමු කොà·„ොමද Layer 2 Switch එකක් Add කරගන්නේ කියලා. කතාන්දරය පටන් ගන්න කලින් මෙන්න මේ ටික Ok ද බලන්න. How uid is being assigned? When we creating a user system will automatically assign uid for the user. In previous notes I have mentioned about the uid ranges. So Regular User category is starting from 1000.  Usually uid is starting from 1000 but we can change it. For doing that use following steps. After that vim text editor will open. Scroll down when UID_MIN found. then press i to insert. Change it. For an example, if you change it to 4000. UID will starting from 4000. Then pren ESC and type :WQ to save and quit. For an example , First UID is 1000 After adding user UID will be 1001 If we add another one UID will be 1002 Then we change UID_MIN to 4000 If we add a user now UID will be 4000 Another user add , then UID will be 4001  Delete a User Using following command we can delete the given user. Why file archiving and compressing is important? Creating Backups  Transferring data across network is much easier. If we want to send data Over the network and Machine to Machine , Compress the file and send. What is an Archiving?  Archiving is the process of collecting files or directories into one location. We use tar command for it. tar stands for Tape Archiving. Options : c - Create an archive t - List the content of the archive x - Extend the archive  v - Verbose (print the file names when they are archiving or compressing) f - File name Remember that The file extension of the archived file should be .tar Examples: #mkdir data1 #mkdir data2 #mkdir data3 #tar cvf data-archive.tar data1 data2 data3 data1, data2, data3 files are archived.
